About Me

Welcome to my world.

My name is Nurul. I was born thirty something years ago in Medan, the city which I still call as my hometown. Most of my life was spent there and felt like I never go to the other places. In 2004, tsunami and big earthquake occurred to my country, caused many damages in Aceh – Nias. I got an opportunity to join one humanitarian organizations for giving my contribution as an architect. After 25 years old lived in a comfort zone, I thought this is the time. For starting the new life with more challenges and adventures. Living in Nias was not easy. It was the first time for me to share everything with others. But there, in the isolated place, I met incredible friends and once again, for the first time in my life, I considered people who were not having the blood connection with me as my family. I climbed the hills, sailed across the sea, laughed and fought with friends and many more. Overall that I could say, living in Nias was incredible experiences. I moved to Banda Aceh in 2007, and still working with humanitarian.  I won’t say much about my life here. But, in this city, for the first time, I really know what the love is. Being humanitarian worker is my endeavour, and at this moment God gives me a chance to dedicate my self for peacekeeping mission in DR Congo. Reading, swimming, writing and photography are my interests. I have many plans in my mind to be actualized. However, I’m trying to be more realistic. Just pass the road that I face in front, and let God do the rest. 11. Halo nurul,

salam kenal. nyasar ke blog kamu and amazed reading ur profile. pada usia 24 thn saya juga memulai karir di bidang humanitarian dan saya bekerja di post tsunami projects. saya bercita2 keliling dunia sbg humanitarian worker, kaya kamu. thn 2006 saya keluar aceh u s2 dan kembali lagi thn 2008 akhir sampai 2009 akhir. disitu mimpi saya belok, saya bertemu dengan suami y “enggak banget” kalo diajak kerja ke afghanistan congo srilanka and d like hahaha. sempet traveling bersama selama kami s3 bareng di eropa. kini dia udah lulus dan saya masih ngelonin bayi hahaha.

it’s really nice to know that mimpi saya 9 tahun lalu bisa terwujud (wow has it been 9 years??) walau y mewujudkan adalah orang lain hihihi

    be grateful🙂

    1. Halo Mumu. Salam kenal juga yah.. So, I stole your dream, didn’t I? hahahha..
Well, iya, tahun 2005 aku bergabung dengan dunia humanitarian. So, now i can say that you stole my dream. Hahaha..

      tetap semangat🙂

  12. Uncle Spike

Hello newest Spikey! I know, a bit corny, eh, but that’s the term that has come to stick for those folk who are part of the clan known to be followers of Uncle Spike🙂

Thank you… I really appreciate that as I for one, know how many interesting and entertaining blogs are out there.

My aim is to deliver an eclectic offering of posts, from my ‘point n shoot’ attempts at basic photography, to the sharing of my travel adventures over the decades, as well as day to day happenings here on the farm. Oh, plus a few observations on life as I see it, thrown in for good measure.

My promise to you is not to be overbearing, just a couple of posts a day, maybe 3 at weekends if I have something special to share. But if you are at a loose end one day, maybe you’ll enjoy trawling through some of my older stuff too. I have added plenty of categories to help in said digging process.

Thanks again and hope you have a great day…

    UNCLE SPIKE

    1. Hello Uncle Spike… Thank you for visiting my blogs.. I don’t mind with your request.. But, honestly, I couldn’t make any promise. Since my free time is only during the weekend, and sometimes I don’t have good connection tough… I’ll try to do my best… cheers..

  13. Nurul, I admire you compassion and dedication. I have read a lot about DR Congo, and know there are so many problems there, and not of local people’s making either. I wish you well with all your good work, and thanks for visiting my blog.

    1. Hello Tish.. Thank you so much. Yes, it’s so iritating, especially it’s affected women and children the most. I just hope that one day all those problems will go from congo. Thank you to visit my blog. have a nice day🙂
